What was the first medicine?


The first modern, pharmaceutical medicine was invented in 1804 by Friedrich Sertürner. He extracted the main active chemical from opium and named it morphine after the Greek god of sleep to help people who were suffering from pain during this time period when there were no alternatives available for treatment!
